I have never understood racism

I have an acquaintance locally who is “fullblood” indigenous Australian.

A wise and caring lady

She is also far more tolerant and patient than I

People treat her with contempt and it is “like water over a ducks back” to her.

We were discussing racism not so long ago

and I mentioned that an  indigenous friends mother had been packed raped by 10 white men.

This lady said to me ”It happens both ways”

 My reply

“Yes but if your people did something like that they would be put to death

 whereas in our culture they say —-

“Just a “gin” no worries”
